LatinoJustice Applauds Senate Introduction of Voting Rights Act
JLVRAA Critical to Help Restore & Strengthen the Voting Rights Act

New York, NY – The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JLVRAA) was introduced today in the Senate. The legislation aims to restore protections to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that helps against discriminatory voting laws.

LatinoJustice PRLDEF supports the federal voting rights bill and has supported the passage of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York and passage of the Connecticut Voting Rights Act, both of which became law.

The following statement can be attributed to Isabelle Muhlbauer, National Advocacy Manager of Voting Rights at LatinoJustice PRLDEF:

“The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act represents a significant step forward in the fight against racial discrimination in voting. This bill not only seeks to restore and strengthen the critical protections of the Voting Rights Act but also addresses contemporary challenges to ensure that all Americans, regardless of race or ethnicity, have equal access to the ballot box. LatinoJustice is proud to support a bill that embodies the spirit of justice and equity, ensuring that the voices of Latino communities are heard and protected in our democracy.”
