Our Census 2020 Work

A Message from Juan Cartagena on Census 2020

As an organization whose work is centered around civil and human rights, we continue to assess the impacts of the current COVID-19 crisis on Census efforts currently underway and, by extension, on our communities and the work we do to serve them. As the proverb goes, Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.” While the world around us seems to have come close to a standstill, our mission to uphold the rights of the Latino community continues. During these unprecedented times, it is more urgent than ever. We continue to work diligently with individuals, community partners, and the media, to ensure Latinos are thoroughly counted in the 2020 Census. Read Juan's full post here

Census Day Facebook Live

For decades, we have partnered with sister non-profit organizations to develop volunteer phone banks, trainings, briefings, public awareness materials, and more. On Census Day this year (April 1, 2020), we joined our partners NALEO, Hispanic Federation, and others to bring valuable Census information to the Latino community on two Facebook live sessions. The first session was in English with hosts Latino Rebels. The second session was in Spanish with Univision Nueva York, with the participation of Maria Matos from the U.S. Census Bureau. Watch the recordings for both below.
