As the courts have narrowed the protections offered by the federal Voting Rights Act, LatinoJustice is using state legislatures to strengthen and expand voter protections. We supported adding strong language access protections to the New York Voting Rights Act, approved in 2023. A similar law was approved in Connecticut in 2024, and we are supporting similar laws in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are also contributing to the creation of state voting rights model legislation for introduction in other states.
