Norma joined LatinoJustice as associate counsel in 2022. Prior to joining LatinoJustice, she served as a criminal defense attorney at The Bronx Defenders where she represented nearly a thousand Bronx residents charged with misdemeanors and felonies at various stages of litigation. While at The Bronx Defenders, Norma also completed a rotation with the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project where she defended non-US citizen clients in deportation proceedings.
Norma earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was an E. Nathaniel Gates Scholar. She was also the recipient of the Archie A. Gorfinkel award for her accomplishments in the field of criminal law. While in law school, Norma worked to exonerate clients who were wrongfully convicted through the Innocence Project and completed an internship with The Bronx Defenders’ criminal defense practice.
