Associate Counsel - Racial Justice

Rafaela Uribe (pronouns: ella/elle she/they) joins LatinoJustice as associate counsel in LJP’s racial justice project. Prior to joining LatinoJustice Rafaela was a Bertha Justice Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights where she worked on issues related to police accountability, gender justice, racial discrimination, immigration, and government surveillance. She also has experience working as a Child Advocate in the Family regulation system at the Defender Association of Philadelphia and prior to law school as a civil advocate at the Bronx Defenders where she represented low income clients in administrative hearings related to access to medicaid, shelter, and other issues. Rafaela credits her interests in the law and social justice to her experiences growing up as a low income Black Dominican-American in public housing in the Bronx. She is a graduate of graduate of Temple University’s law school and Bowdoin College.
