Executive Assistant to President & General Counsel
Stephanie Barquero

Stephanie has been part of LatinoJustice PRLDEF since the Fall of 2021, having joined as an Executive Assistant to the President and General Counsel. Before coming to LatinoJustice, she worked for Pryor Cashman LLP, an award-winning law firm in the heart of Times Square, serving a diverse, global client base in a wide array of practice areas, industries, and sectors.

She was born and raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, to immigrant parents of Costa Rican and Spaniard descent. She takes pride in being an “around the way girl” and her street smarts and book smarts. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, she celebrates the annual Gay Pride and year-long events that embody the beauty of self-acceptance and what it means to share that openly. Her volunteer efforts include fundraising for Suicide Prevention programs like AFSP’s “Out of the Darkness” and Animal Rescue programs like “The Sato Project,” which rescues abused and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico. In addition, she has engaged in recent, historical events such as the 2017 Women’s March for reproductive, civil, and human rights. In October of 2017, she volunteered with The Puerto Rican Family Institute to collect emergency food, clothes, and medical supplies for victims of Hurricane Maria. As well as her participation in the 2020 Black Lives Matter marches across New York City and the world.
Stephanie likes to challenge herself physically with military-style obstacle courses run by Tough Mudder, Spartan races, and more during her free time. For mental stimulation, she seeks out the artists, writers, musicians, and all things eclectic that this city has to offer. She is often visiting art galleries, museums, immersive theater, ballet, and poetry cafes.
