New York, NY – June 19th, LatinoJustice will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Latina Trailblazers Breakfast, an annual event that elevates and fosters Latina leadership in all industries. The event will take place at the Tribeca Rooftop, at 2 Desbrosses Street, New York, NY 10013. This year, we will commemorate three groundbreaking Latinas: Ileana Musa, Yvonne García and Ruby Corado, each of whom are active creators of new opportunities for Latinas. The event will also include a special award, the Latina Pionera, to Dolores Huerta, who has demonstrated a legacy of leadership and a lifelong commitment to fighting for our community.

“Latinas have been on the frontlines of social justice throughout history, whether they get their recognition or not. Over the past 10 years we have witnessed Latinas from all walks of life who inspire us and prove the point that when Latinas lead, we all win,” said Juan Cartagena President and General Counsel at LatinoJustice PRLDEF

“I am honored to be selected as this year’s Pionera and to join the countless other Latinas who have fought for Latina Leadership. Latinas — as do all women — have the same rights to fair wages and treatment in the workplace as anyone else. Together we can make sure that women — and all workers — can thrive with dignity and respect in all industries. The great social justice changes in our country have always happened when people came together, organized, and took direct action. As I said so many years ago, “Si, se puede.” said Dolores Huerta, Founder and President of the Dolores Huerta Foundation.”

“When Latina women succeed, they inspire the next generations of Latina leaders to aim high in every industry.  I am honored to be recognized as one of the Latino Justice 2019 Trailblazers.  Together we will continue to deliver on innovation and results while breaking down barriers to create diverse, inclusive and collaborative workplaces where everyone feels they belong,” said Ileana Musa – 2019 Latina Trailblazer – Managing Director, Co-Head of International Wealth Management, Head of International Banking & Lending, Morgan Stanley

“It’s a great honor to be recognized with so many prestigious Latina women. My work with the LGBTQ Central American Caravan, has made me remember how I too was an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador. And helping them thrive in the US has been a life changing experience. If you think that your dreams become big when they come true, they become bigger when others dream with you. Never stop dreaming!” said Ruby Corado – 2019 Latina Trailblazer - Executive Director, Casa Ruby

Yvonne Garcia – 2019 Latina Trailblazer - Chief of Staff to CEO, State Street Corporation

Following the presentation of awards, honorees will took the stage for A Conversation Among the Trailblazers.”

The Latina Trailblazers Breakfast was originally developed to commemorate Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Previous honorees include Maria Hinojosa, Maria Teresa Kumar and many more.
