SCOTUS Decision Wrongly Reaffirms Impunity of Puerto Rico Financial Board, says LatinoJustice PRLDEF
In CPI v. FOMB, Supreme Court denies accountability to Puerto Rico's people

The following statement can be attributed to Lourdes M. Rosado, President and General Counsel of LatinoJustice PRLDEF:

“We are deeply disappointed by the Supreme Court decision, which wrongly interprets the PROMESA Act as granting the Financial Oversight Management Board ‘sovereign immunity’ and allows this anti-democratic body to continue to withhold vital information on their decisions and actions affecting Puerto Rico’s economy and the lives of millions of people.

"This decision reaffirms the FOMB as part of Puerto Rico’s government, but in doing so grants FOMB immunity from suit that the court has never decided the government is entitled to. This is an injustice to Puerto Ricans, because throughout its six years of existence, FOMB has operated with impunity under a cloak of secrecy and has disregarded its responsibility to inform and take into account the will of the Puerto Rican people. We will continue to fight for the rights of the people of Puerto Rico and their right to direct and determine their island home’s economy and future.”
