Statement from Members of the Voting Rights Working Group on Voter Integrity and the 2020 Elections

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Members of the Voting Rights Working Group today issued the following statement:

"False and unsupported allegations, no matter the source, should not undermine belief in election integrity.  There is no credible evidence of significant voter fraud in the United States in the last 50 years.  This is true regardless of multiplying advance allegations of such a threat to election integrity. This is true regardless of increasingly suppressive steps taken in the name of prevention of supposed unlawful voting. This is true regardless of the creation of any abortive national task force to look at unsupported allegations of improper voting in 2016. This is true regardless of how long it takes for all votes cast to be counted and results finalized. Finally, this is true regardless of how many voters choose to cast their votes remotely by mail or drop-off. Remote voting has been legitimately utilized by millions of voters over decades, without any evidence of significant fraud.

"Simply put, there is no evidence of any conspiracy to have significant numbers of ineligible voters cast ballots in United States elections.

"We therefore conclude that we should all have full confidence that the results of our 2020 elections will not be tainted by improper voting. We should reject all allegations of “voter fraud” that cannot overcome this long and incontrovertible history with substantial and verifiable evidence."
