LatinoJustice Annual Awards Gala Celebrates Leaders Standing for Justice, Strengthening Communities, and Shaping the Future

New York, NY – LatinoJustice PRLDE, a national nonprofit advancing equity and justice for Puerto Rican and Latino communities, held its Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday at Pier 60 in New York City honoring trailblazing advocates and allies whose leadership continues to shape a more equitable future for all.

This year’s theme, “Stand for Justice. Strengthen Communities. Shape the Future.”, reflected LatinoJustice’s enduring commitment to mobilize the collective power of community, partnership, and advocacy to defend the rights and dignity of all Latinos.

More than 600 supporters, sponsors, and friends gathered for an inspiring evening celebrating LatinoJustice’s more than fifty-year legacy of impact through litigation, advocacy, and leadership development. Together, attendees helped LatinoJustice exceed their goal of $1.2 milion in funds to sustain the organization’s mission and expand its reach at a time when civil rights are under renewed threat.

“This Gala is both a celebration and a call to action,” said Lourdes M. Rosado, President and General Counsel of LatinoJustice PRLDEF. “As our communities continue to face systemic inequities and political attacks, LatinoJustice stands in our fight for justice, inclusion, and opportunity. Tonight, we honor those who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us and whose leadership and vision embody the strength of our collective voice and the future we are building together.”

This year’s 2025 LatinoJustice PRLDEF Honorees included:

  • Corporate Leader Award to New York Life Foundation, award accepted by Kathleen Burke

  • Community Justice Award to Hispanic Federation, award accepted by Frankie Miranda, President and CEO

  • Vanguard Award to Damon Hewitt, President and Executive Director, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law

Guests celebrated the honorees’ achievements with an evening of inspiring remarks, live music, and connection among leaders, advocates, and allies committed to building a more just society.

Founded in 1972, LatinoJustice PRLDEF has challenged discriminatory policies and practices across the nation fighting for immigrant rights, voting rights, criminal justice reform, language access, and equal opportunity in education, housing, and employment. Through its impact litigation, advocacy, and leadership development programs, LatinoJustice continues to empower the next generation of Latino leaders and advance systemic change.
