LatinoJustice Standing Against Fear and Protecting Safe Havens

New York, NY – President Trump announced on Tuesday that he is revoking protections barring ICE enforcement actions at schools, hospitals, churches, and other “sensitive areas”.

In light of this news LatinoJustice released the following statement that can be attributed to Lourdes M. Rosado, President and General Counsel, LatinoJustice PRLDEF: These spaces have long been recognized as safe havens where children can attend school and obtain an education, families can practice their faith, and all residents can seek community support. Targeting these locations threatens the well-being of our immigrant communities, undermines trust, instills fear, and disrupts daily life for countless of families. LatinoJustice reminds our community that New York City and State has policies in place that make these locations off-limits to ICE enforcement. LatinoJustice is keeping a watchful eye on the situation and will stand against these actions.
