LatinoJustice Stands Against Fear-Driven Policies Targeting Cities Labeled as "Sanctuary Cities"

NEW YORK, NY - President Trump has signed two executive orders directing the administration to target cities that they label as supposed sanctuary cities and authorize law enforcement to take on immigration duties.

The following statement can be attributed to Rex Chen, Supervising Counsel for Immigrant Rights, LatinoJustice PRLDEF:
“We are dismayed by President Trump's new executive order targeting cities that they label as supposed sanctuary cities. It is a dangerous overreach that undermines public safety. Local governments know how to build trust with the communities they serve in order to increase public safety. Local police should focus on protecting communities, not enforcing federal immigration laws. Expanding police involvement in deportations will escalate racial profiling, especially against Latino communities, and erode trust in law enforcement. LatinoJustice stands against these fear-driven tactics and will continue to work to defend our communities' rights.”
