New Immigration Policy “Lifts Veil of Fear” for Thousands says LatinoJustice
Program to Provide Work Permits and Protect Undocumented from Deportation
New York, NY – The Biden administration has enacted a new immigration policy that will ease the pathway to permanent residency for close to a million of undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens.
The statement below can be attributed to Lourdes M. Rosado, President and General Counsel of LatinoJustice PRLDEF:
“President Biden’s policy extending parole in place protections to undocumented spouses of US citizens will lift the veil of fear from half a million families and allow them to fully integrate into the workforce and into their communities. While we recognize this does not fully cover all immigrants without full legal status, including undocumented parents of U.S. citizen children, this policy goes a long way towards providing safety and legal stability for millions of people.
“The many communities and advocates who organized to push the Administration to take action should be proud. It's an immensely helpful step toward what tens of millions of people in our communities need, comprehensive immigration laws that will give us a thorough and humane system to integrate immigrants and their families into our society."
