Revoking Student Visas Without Due Process Threaten Student Rights, says LatinoJustice

New York, NY – International students from across the county in at least 22 states are reporting that their student visas have been revoked without any notice or opportunity for review. Reports include students at dozens of private and public universities and colleges, including the University of Texas at Austin, Harvard University and The University of California, Berkeley, and more.

The following statement can be attributed to Lourdes M. Rosado, President and General Counsel of  LatinoJustice PRLDEF:
“We are deeply alarmed by reports that the Trump administration has abruptly revoked the visas of at least 300 international students without due process. The lack of transparency and due process raises grave concerns that students are being profiled based on their political beliefs and it is a direct threat to free speech and to the values of higher education. These actions also threaten the reputation of US institutions of higher learning as desirable places to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees, and could have grave effects on scientific and academic research. We ask for transparency from the federal government and for an investigation into these incidents. LatinoJustice stands with the students affected and will continue to work to defend the rights of our immigrant communities.”
