LatinoJustice and partners submitted SCOTUS Amicus Brief on Census Reapportionment

On November 30th, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments regarding a lower federal court ruling that determined the constitution explicitly requires all persons to be counted. The Trump administration appealed to the Supreme Court after New York federal judges ruled that the Presidential directive to exclude undocumented immigrants from the Census apportionment count was unlawful.

On November 16th, LatinoJustice PRLDEF was joined by a dozen national Latino advocacy and service organizations in submitting an amicus “friend of the court” brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the Census reapportionment count case Trump v. New York. International law firm Clifford Chance LLP contributed as pro bono co-counsel on the brief.
