LatinoJustice PRLDEF released The Supreme Court’s Long Shadow Over Latino Rights: 2025–2026 Term and the Case for Reform, examining how decisions from the Court’s 2025–2026 term could carry far-reaching consequences for the nation’s 68 million Latinos. The report analyzes rulings on birthright citizenship, due process, immigration enforcement, equal protection, racial justice, and voting rights.

It also traces how the Court has expanded presidential power and increasingly relied on its shadow docket to resolve major disputes without full briefing, oral argument, or detailed public explanation. The report closes with LatinoJustice’s recommendations for reform, among them term limits, a predictable appointment process, and a binding ethics code overseen by an independent body.
