Cada Voto Cuenta: A Voter Protection Initiative

Defending the right to vote is fundamental to the mission of LatinoJustice PRLDEF. In the 2016 presidential election, the organization launched its voter protection program Cada Voto Cuenta, which recruits and trains volunteers to monitor polls and assist voters during elections.

With the recent spread of laws and practices that aim to block voter access and diminish the power of Brown and Black communities, we work to uphold the right to vote, a fundamental pillar of democracy, so our communities can make their voices heard and hold elected officials accountable.

For the 2024 election cycle, Cada Voto Cuenta will focus on:

  • Voter Education: Informing the public about their voting rights and recent changes in voting laws.
  • Get Out The Vote (GOTV): Encouraging civic participation through various outreach efforts.
  • Election Protection: Ensuring that all voters can freely cast their ballots without interference.

How You Can Support Our Work

We are actively seeking volunteers for:

  • Education/Outreach (Virtual): Help educate the public about their voting rights and the importance of voting.
  • Poll Monitoring (In-Person): Bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers are needed to monitor selected polling stations.
  • Legal Support (In-Person): Qualified volunteers will provide legal assistance at statewide command centers and through roving legal monitoring.
