New York, NY – Earlier today the U.S. Supreme Court lifted the nationwide injunction that blocked the implementation of the “Public Charge” rule. The battle around the legality of denying immigration applications based on the “Public Charge” rule continues, however, while the legal battle ensues, the law will begin to take effect around the country.

“The ‘Public Charge’ rule imposes a wealth test on immigrants of color seeking to enter the country, people who are overwhelmingly driven by their desire to be reunited with family members and loved ones. It is one of the many policies that this administration has pushed to target the Latinx community. While this odious rule will continue to be challenged in the courts, we reiterate our unconditional support for all immigrants and their families and stand ready to defend them as needed,” said LatinoJustice PRLDEF.
