Monica Lozano

Monica Lozano is one of the most respected Hispanic business leaders in America with a thirty year record of accomplishment leading diversified media organizations. She is currently Chair of the Board of US Hispanic Media, Inc. the parent company of ImpreMedia LLC.

Lozano recently retired after five years as Chief Executive Officer of ImpreMedia, one of the largest media companies serving Hispanic communities in the United States. As CEO she led the transformation of the business in to a fully integrated multimedia content company leveraging their strong brands and audience engagement across print, digital, video, mobile, social and local platforms. Prior to this, Lozano led the publications division for the company and was Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of La Opinión, the largest and most influential Hispanic newspaper in the country.

ImpreMedia publishes newspapers and websites in the cities with a large Latino population including Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco and Orlando and has a market reach of 23% of all Hispanic adults. Known for its award winning editorial content, ImpreMedia is well established as a leader in coverage of issues important to the Latino community and is regularly recognized by civic, business and non-profit organizations for its journalistic excellence.

Under her leadership, the company expanded into new markets, products and lines of business including lifestyle publications targeting Hispanic families; entertainment and sports magazines and websites; and a Commercial Publishing division which currently produces Que Rica Vida, a bi-monthly magazine for General Mills Inc.

A deep commitment to inform, educate and empower the Hispanic community is at the core of the company’s mission and ImpreMedia has spearhead highly successful public information campaigns in the areas of health, economic advancement, immigration and education. Today, ImpreMedia is a national media partners to the “Ya es hora” campaign targeting Latino civic participation and Asegúrate, a comprehensive health initiative.

Lozano has committed much of her time to non-profit organizations including the National Council of La Raza where she served as board chair. In 2013 she completed a 12 year term as Regent of the University of California but was asked to return by Governor Jerry Brown who re-appointed Lozano in 2014. She served as a member of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness as well as the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board prior to that.

Today, she is widely regarded as one of the most influential Latinas in the country and is a member of the board of directors of Bank of America, the Walt Disney Company, the University of Southern California, the Weingart Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

She is a regular speaker at conferences and has won numerous awards including the Poder Business Leader Award, “Media Executive of the Year” from AHAA, US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s “CEO of the Year”, National Immigration Forum “Keeper of the American Dream” Award, NCLR “Raul Yzaguirre President’s Award”, National Conference on Civil Rights “Hubert H. Humphrey Award”, and the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s Brillante Award among others. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Inter-American Dialogue.
